Bi-weekly updates for August.

Troops section in progress!

Eagle Ordinary

Giving cigarettes to kids now? The commissariat really is heartless.

Happy Holidays!

As you can see, the site's gotten a bit of an upgrade! And as a bonus, we've set up an rp forum as well.

Both still require a bit of work, but I've got most of this week off, so expect updates!

Hope you all have a very happy holiday :>

@Cygamer: they operate on the Greater Seres' Boobs Princple ala Kouta Hirano. The hats expand when they're excited.

This can be used to attract mates, or signal to other commissars that this is their terf.

A Commissar that offers cigarettes to his closest colleagues.... my IG sergeant will like him.

I just love how the techies are trying to put out the fire with some tiny buckets. Great comic as usual, keep it up!

I can't stop chuckling about those poor techpriests flailing about with buckets of water.

Also the RP forum sounds great! I'm getting a "file does not exist" error when I try to click that link, though.

@Bobert: That's strange! Seems to be working for everyone I've spoken to. What's the URL? Can you try it again / from your phone?

December 26th, 2016, 7:57 pm

@peachpunk: It's because there's two websites in that link here look.

December 26th, 2016, 8:00 pm

@LordOfWar867: Ohh! Just going to the second link wound up working totally fine. Thanks, man! Sorry about the confusion on my end, Peachpunk.

December 26th, 2016, 9:14 pm

@LordOfWar867: Ah! Good call. I must have forgotten to add the http:// in front of the link. Derp.

December 26th, 2016, 9:34 pm

@peachpunk: That's not what I might, I purposely did that to not make it not a link. what I actual meant to say is tge forums is on a different site but you put this site url infront of it which leads you to a blank page. Put it simple just remove and just put and link should work

December 26th, 2016, 9:40 pm

@LordOfWar867: That IS the correct url, but author comments aren't sanitized, so anything written in them is parsed as html. That means any link tag will append to the current address, unless you specify http:// as the root.

I just added in the http://, and it links to the correct destination now :>

Hey I've been trying to figure out where to start with designing my website (got some basic knowledge of CSS, HTML, Java) and I don't even know where to start! Haha. Did you build this yourself? If so, wow. I've attempted editing themes in Wordpress although as of yet it's a bit of a disappointment. Best would be I build it myself and learn in the process.

You got any good tips for a lone rider?

December 27th, 2016, 8:50 am

@Baldur: Well, I'm not an expert by any means, but I did build this one out myself. I took some basic html/css/javascript in school years ago, and I work as a software designer for my job, so it's kinda tangential to what I do for a career.

That said, the CMS (content management system) is probably the most important part to consider before you start thinking about the front-end code. Wordpress is a versatile, strong contender, but there's other online CMS (like smackjeeves, who hosts us, and many, many others) who trade yearly fees for a networked community and some comic centric publishing tools. I won't vouch for either, they have their own pros and cons, but do your research first to avoid a headache later.

As for the front-end dev, these days it's kinda nice to start from getskeleton or bootstrap so you have some easy pre-set styles to work with and smart scaling features. The best advice I can give you is to just jump into it, don't be afraid to ask questions, and learn by doing. You'll get better as you solve problems. I'm sure I'll still be fucking up and learning more as I shift this site's code around over the next week.

Personally, I want to try working with LESS, which is a bit of an 'upgrade' from css, but I haven't had the chance yet.

@peachpunk: Exhaustive answer ftw fuck yeah.. First I'd like to thank muchly for the plethora of tips.

I have gained renewed courage from this, and from looking at your "lazy portfolio" site you have nudged at the same setup I've been considering: a centered splash-page(?). My second layout-concept is still a brainchild yet to be fullfilled.

You remind me of my online-mentors/friends when I was only a budding artist, so thank you for that.

I received a card from you today and I just want to say thank you and keep up the good work, because that card's adorable and your comic work is great!

December 28th, 2016, 9:22 pm

Postcard just arrived! It's so cute, thanks so much! Hope you guys all had a wonderful holiday!

December 29th, 2016, 4:53 am

Some just want to watch the world burn.

Someone get that commissar a chair and his teacup!

December 30th, 2016, 11:00 am

I've noticed that every so often, Talon and Holt's hats get a bit bigger. Is that standard commissar behavior?
