Bi-weekly updates for August.

Troops section in progress!

Eagle Ordinary

Don't google 'milking Holt' with safesearch off.

We saved you the trouble

I mean, there's repressed, and then there's just unhealthy. (This is actually in the results, we looked.)

Some other news: While our comic may be a safe bastion from the chaos going on in the world around us, things are less tidy here in Boston. I'll be amidst the counter protesters showing up at the commons this coming Saturday to remind our visitors hate isn't welcome here. So wish me luck.

In other news, things may be rocky on the update schedule until mid October. Things are still in the air, but if you guys saw the diagram at the front of the make blog Warhammer Community published the other week (second part's out by the way,) it's a bit like that again. So wish me luck AND sanity.

But on the bright side, holy shit! New warhammer RPG coming out!!! YES!!! With the same cool dudes who made the last ones fantastic too! We can't wait!

In any case, I look forward to getting to finish the rest of the chapter. Things just had to slow down when I got to my favorite part :c

This page is awesome. The Commissar who hates blood just threatened to execute someone, and he meant it.

August 15th, 2017, 4:31 am

@NikitaCougar: Does he really hate blood, or is he emulating his hero, Commissar Ciaphas Cain (HERO OF THE IMPERIUM) by not getting BLAM-y unless he really has to?

August 15th, 2017, 7:46 pm

@ChosenChaos: fair point, the Commissar is simply too Noble to spill imperium blood

August 22nd, 2017, 3:05 am

@NikitaCougar: "life is the Emperors currency" to kill needlessly is tantamount to stealing from the Emperor himself.

August 14th, 2017, 6:21 am

Hate is not welcomed? That means you don't hate the xeno scum which means you're a Tau sympathizer! I'll get the Commissar.

August 14th, 2017, 6:44 am

@Hatfylld Människa: I make exceptions for fish.

Orks however... now there's some boyz who know how have a good time.

August 14th, 2017, 6:50 am

Not sure if Heresy... I might need to Google this 'milking Holt' just to be sure.

Three minutes later: Yup, I am going to need a mind wipe. (It actually was just dairy farming that came up)

August 14th, 2017, 6:55 am

@Lord Inquisitor Fleischmann: Holt is an old word for township, so you're going to find lots of pictures of rural cow milking activities.

That said we certainly couldn't help ourselves either.

August 14th, 2017, 8:40 am

Pity, i was spectin a "sandwitch slap" in keegan's face, awesome anyway, Talon know when to get dead serious

August 14th, 2017, 9:13 am

(That was actually pretty bad-A, sandwich or not. And exactly what a Commissar should do in such a situation.)

August 14th, 2017, 9:36 am

One: great page.
Two: stay safe out there.

August 14th, 2017, 12:20 pm

Personally the image I might want to banish out of my mind is Keegan with a double-chin.

Also thank you Kaiser for helping us avoid becoming as much of a mess as the warhammer universe and do try to stay safe.

August 14th, 2017, 12:57 pm

Stay safe during the counter-protest! Best of luck!

And god I love our Junior Commissar. That was shockingly badass, sandwich or no.

August 14th, 2017, 5:42 pm

Talon shouldn't have given that kid his sandwich it make him look weak which you don't want to do when you're a commissar also what is he going to eat now

August 14th, 2017, 6:13 pm

Even in my lunch break, I still serve.

This is definitely one of my favorites so far, so many hilarious details! Keep safe friends!

August 14th, 2017, 7:01 pm

When you say "Hate isn't welcome here" what you really mean is "Opinions I don't agree with and can't argue against aren't welcome here"

August 14th, 2017, 8:16 pm

@Matt: No Matt, what is meant is 'alt right Nazis aren't welcome here, and neither are those who support them, or live in a bubble of privilege so thick they defend the freedom of Nazis to walk openly (because that worked so well in 1930s Germany).

See ya!

August 14th, 2017, 8:20 pm

@Dave: Hey guys! I appreciate the dialogue. While I don't agree with Matt's assessment of me he's entitled to his opinion. But I don't want the comic page to become a discussion on politics. I only meant to state where I, personally, was going to be. I welcome you to email me at eagleordinarycomic@gmail.com if you want to continue, but I'm going to cut it off here out of respect for having a last bastion of escapism and the rest of the folks on my team who I can't represent.

August 16th, 2017, 1:12 pm

@Dave: As long as you also keep away the anti-fa and BLM and the other counter rioters and racists you should be fine. Shut down the politics in general.

August 14th, 2017, 8:53 pm

I'll be out at The Common on Saturday as well. They need to know that stuff isn't okay. Stay safe.

August 15th, 2017, 12:14 am

"Or what?"

*Bolt pistol*

Badass. =D

Facing down Nazis: Also badass. I've done it before, and they tend to make it very not fun. Stay safe out there.

August 15th, 2017, 6:44 pm

Hey Angel, Metal Commander, I've removed your posts for the reasons mentioned above. I'm totally taking responsibility for starting it considering I mentioned the protest, but as I mentioned just above, I don't want this to turn into a place of heated debate. Not that I agree or disagree with you.

As always, you're free to contact me at eagleordinarycomic@gmail.com.

August 15th, 2017, 7:53 pm

@peachpunk: You're the boss.

Heh. I just realised something. Our escapism is actually the 40k universe. That's a fucked up thought if I ever heard one.

September 14th, 2017, 8:37 am

@Metal C0Mmander: XD Jesus wept, I hadn't even considered that!!

August 16th, 2017, 3:09 am

The THREAT of summary execution is the greatest weapon in the Commissar's arsenal. If a commissar actually has to follow through, then he's already failed to use the threat effectively and is now wasting a munitorium asset to re-emphasize the point.

August 16th, 2017, 11:09 am

@Kammon: with an attitude like that im not sure the major is that big of an asset, officer should not need to be told to respect the chain of command

August 18th, 2017, 4:34 pm

@melgar: bet he'd respect the chain if there were some Astartes there

August 19th, 2017, 7:19 pm

@Kammon: If a unit has succumbed to the dark whispers that lead him to betray his brothers in arms and thereby He on Terrace to whom he swore pledges and oaths of loyalty, then an execution by bolt pistol is indeed a failure.

Because while death may absolve a man of his crimes, what punishment can be enough for the man who commits the sin of turning his back the Imperium and Him on the Golden Throne who suffered so much for us.

I mean he still suffers despite the lack of worthiness too often found creeping in among us. But he suffered before us too.

August 17th, 2017, 10:57 am

i love the fact he give there lunch to the kid a very good guy and hero of the poeple a exemple.

August 17th, 2017, 9:30 pm

@Kaliphon: I've removed your comments as per what I stated above, and I welcome you to contact me at eagleordinarycomic@gmail.com if you'd like to discuss further. Trying to keep comments 40k related.

August 22nd, 2017, 2:57 pm

This is what you get when you have a disciple of the Commander Chenkov style of leadership butting heads against a follower of Cain's flavor of command.

August 29th, 2017, 10:18 am

Usually Guardsmen a little more... timid around the Commissariat. Even if they're juniors and such. That Guardsman has some testicular fortitude. Or a heaping amount of dumb.

September 2nd, 2017, 8:08 am

According to Commissariat manual, Junior Commissars and Commissars aren't allowed to carry Chainswords. So suck it up. Ave Deus-Imperator!

September 5th, 2017, 11:08 am

Wait, what is up with keegans neck? it looks like a scar from getting it slit.

September 6th, 2017, 5:43 pm

@JustADude: I don't know if it's ever been pointed out, but I've always assumed it's a hanging scar. He got hung but didn't die, or did and was revived. I could be a knife slash, too, now that you mention it!

September 20th, 2017, 9:19 pm

@JustADude: Thyroid surgery? A friend of mine had half her thyroid taken out and it looks strikingly similar.

Of course, this being the Grim Darkness of the Far Future (in which there is Only War), I doubt the explanation will be that prosaic, if there is one. :P

September 22nd, 2017, 2:14 pm

https://1d4chan.org/wiki/Schola_Progenium

Ahem just in case some of you wonder if he would actually do it check the link above and scroll down to what a commissariat cadet must do to leave the schola progenium (aka hogwarts from hell) without fail to become a junior commissar he will have been given a pistol and ordered to kill another student typically the one who is bottom of the class but some more psychotic instructors specifically choose the students best friends as the target, all of this is done either with the instructor watching either in person or through a servo skull, failure makes you the next cadets target... :(

September 24th, 2017, 10:12 pm

@Majna: We have one example of that in Codex: MT, told as a fluff piece about a single incident. Nothing says it's SOP or that every single Commissar had to shoot his best friend to get there.

September 25th, 2017, 10:59 am

@Captain Connor: after reading your reply i decided to go back and re-read the militarum tempestus codex in order to get a clearer fresh image of the text and its surroundings in my mind, throughout the codex it goes into length extolling how the schola is in all forms as much a form of torture alongside being a school, brainwashing both chemical and physical is universal students are purposely made to despise the place but also understand that the only escape is to comply, and thus graduate.
The fluff in question is titled "Trials of Tibrum" and is rather simply the story of a commissar killing one of his men in order to remind them their duty while also reminiscing about how he was ordered to kill his friend Drusus by a drill abbot in the schola.
many parts of the codex extol that the schola progenium is intended to render its students obedient and capable while also rendering it plain that giving anything but their all will result in them being dead in order to render them an example to others.
Open questioning of orders results in death, being a troublemaker can result in horrendous punishments ranging from beatings torture repeated sessions in "the correction throne" for extra brain washing, even in extreme cases a rather odd form of 40k fox hunting, where the trouble maker is the fox the rest of the students are the hounds the drill abbots probably ride something other than horses But just like the modern day version being the fox is typically fatal.
My point is the schola is a place of constant death violence and pain all made to hammer in the idea that disobedience is death.

plus right after that little fluff nugget it says this on the following page.

"For potential commissars the Trials of compliance usually take even more esoteric forms. Without knowing it is a test a cadet may be commanded to locate one of his closest colleagues- a comrade with whom he has shared the trials and tribulations of the Schola Progenium over many years and shoot them through the head.
Such callous execution order serves a dual purpose, as it proves that the cadet commissar can not only follow imperial orders, but that he or she will have no problem killing stubborn officers when in the heat of battle. However the Schola Progenium recognises the danger posed by a highly trained candidate who shows promise of a commissar, but who cannot follow such an order. Prospective Commissars who fail this trail end up being victim to the same challenge issued to another candidate or released as quarry to a group of potential scions (storm troopers)
The few brave adepts within the adeptus ministorum who suggest that all of this is a waste of good talent are reminded that these trials are essential to wean out the truly remorseless from those haunted by doubt. Besides, there are always thousands of more orphans delivered into their hands each year - such losses are hardly of import."

the point being that they are ordered to kill and that it is specifically a target that they may hesitate over is to make or break the cadet, it could be another cadet one of the schola's junior or janitorial staff, they arent looking for psychopaths they want those who when push comes to shove will do their duty and both live with and own the decision to take a life.

Which may very well be why This junior commissar is so hesitant and threw up when he saw the guy with the vacant skull at the beginning, painful memories putting him hear under Holt could be in a way a final exam, he will either sink and die or swim and probably be grievously wounded :)
